This is all amazing work Mantix! And dazzling to see that fresh as all getup porthole!! Amazing.

Can't wait to see your final model -- would love to add it to the site proper when the time comes.

Have there been any updates on the model?

It is with great interest that I happened on this post. I repainted my ride replica soon after I got it to look like the subs I remember. I'm pretty sure it only cost me a few dollars and looks very good. I had posted a how to at Disneysub.com, but it has now gone- so I'll be glad to send you a photo of my results if you like.

Here's some photos of my re-painted ride vehicle model. The one sole by Disney comes in a rather bright and shiny aqua color that didn't look at all like the subs I remember. I mixed my own color using Apple Barrel Brand craft acrylics from Walmart. (98 cents each) I don't remember the exact color) I was guided by a photo from this site. I gave the model 2 coats with a flat, wide brush. When completely dry (overnight) i mixed a wash with dark brown and applied it to all surfaces, pulling the brush downward to simulate natural weathering. Concentrate this on the rivets and details.. I also painted the wheelhouse light a yellow green to look like the photos. Now my replica looks much more like the sub I remember.

Outstanding job nautilusnut!! Don't ever sell it, but if you do make sure you get a good price and it goes to a deserving home. Thanks again for the info.

Wonderful work! Great to see!

Yes, don't ever sell it, but let me know how much you'd charge to paint mine. :)
